Business Start-Up
MedChord is a diagnostic tool based on accelerometer and microphone data that provide quantitative assessment of the vocal function.
​
It aims for detecting disorders related to the vocal chords in a novel non-invasive manner. MedChord is placed in the neck and records the vibration of the patient's vocal chords during phonation. This signal is then processed using Machine Learning to provide the clinician with a classification of te patient.
​
MedChord is composed by high-end accelerometer, able to capture precisely the frequencies of human speech and a circuit that allows it to be plugged to any microphone input of a PC, thus making it portable.
​
Currently there are no teams of this caliber and specificity in the area of phoniatrics, where the diagnosis is based on observation, so the subjectivity used for decision making by the professionals is high.
